Why we built this

We saw the original on TikTok. We loved it. We searched for “toon tone” and found four typo-squatted clones with no original gameplay — toontone.com, .io, .top, .app. None of them added daily challenges, difficulty modes, or character depth. None of them said where the original was.

So we built the version we wanted to play, with permission from the MIT License of the original code (which lets us derive new work, but does not give us ownership of the name or concept). We added:

30 entirely original characters (animals, robots, monsters) — none from Disney, Pokémon, Nintendo, or any other studio
Three difficulty modes
Daily Challenge that resets at UTC midnight
Wordle-style shareable emoji grids
Single-character pages with color theory

We do not claim the name “Toon Tone”

We use the name “Toon Tone” only as a fan-tribute reference, the same way someone might run a fan-site about a TV show. We do not hold a trademark on “Toon Tone” and we do not claim to be the official creators.

If @tole.dit, the original creator, ever objects to this fan tribute, please contact us at contact@toontone.dev or dmca@toontone.dev — we will:

Update the site wording at your request
Add stronger attribution if requested
Take the site down entirely if requested

We made this out of respect, not opportunism.

We designed every character on this site from scratch. None of them are derivative of any existing copyrighted character. If you believe any character resembles your IP, please file a notice via our DMCA Policy — we respond within 48 hours.

How we make money

Ads. Specifically, Google AdSense (during the first 1,000 monthly sessions) and Mediavine Journey (after). That's it. No premium tier. No subscriptions. No “buy more characters.” If you hate ads, use an ad blocker — we won't try to detect or block you.
